The Sonicare 2 Series isn't the tech-iest toothbrush, nor is it particularly hip-looking, but it's The Guide's choice for the money. It's rechargeable, has an ergonomic handle, and the 2-color battery indicator that lets you know when it's running low on power. The easy-start feature gently eases you into electric toothbrush life: it gradually increases power over the first 14 uses. Perfect for the electric newbie.

Sonic technology enables up to 31,000 brush strokes per minute! Much more effective than a manual toothbrush — according to Sonicare the 2 Series removes up to 6x more plaque, and we believe it. A timer encourages the 2 minutes of brushing recommended by dentists. This brush provided a great cleaning and left us feeling fresh.

The 2 Series is available in white, black, pink, and 3 shades of blue. Your box includes the base, toothbrush, manual, batteries, brush head, and travel cap. A 2 year manufacturer warranty is also part of the deal. When it arrives, you'll want to charge the brush for a full 24 hours before use (The battery light will let you know when it's fully charged and ready to go).

The Sonicare 2 Series is a great toothbrush for those who want to graduate from a manual toothbrush and improve their dental health, but aren't ready to plunk down the cash for a high-end model with more features. One downside? The replacement heads are on the pricey side.

Best Electric Toothbrush Subscription

Best Electric Toothbrush Subscription

Goby is a new toothbrush available only online, and it's a good one. It cleans like a big-name brand brush, but boasts a more moderate price tag. Plus you can opt for a subscription so your toothbrush replacement worries will be no more (if you have toothbrush replacement worries). The brush features two modes — standard or sensitive — which we think is sufficient. Our "on" button wasn't super responsive, but the cleaning power is great.

Goby comes in 4 colors: midnight blue, blue, pink, or orange. Or go with the limited edition All-Black Goby ($60 with subscription). It contains a 2-minute timer, as is standard with electric toothbrushes these days. Your initial toothbrush kit arrives in cool-looking recyclable packaging and contains a Goby brush, round oscillating brush head, USB charging shell, stand, and USB converter. The hygienic stand features a removable tray to easily clean toothpaste build-up. (But be forewarned, the brush doesn't stand up on its own so you'll want to keep it in the stand.)

If you opt to subscribe with Goby, you'll receive new brush heads every 1, 2, or 3 months at a cost of less than $6 per head. Opt for three months, since that is what dentists recommend! A light indicates that it's been 3 months of use and you need to change the brush head.

When your brush arrives, the company recommends you charge it for 10 hours before use. A full charge lasts about two weeks. Goby is a fantastic brush for the money, and the brush head subscription is convenient. What's not to love? It's perfect for the person who doesn't need all the bells and whistles, and doesn't want to think about stocking up on brushing supplies. To make the offer even sweeter, Goby also offers a 60 day refund policy.

Best Electric Toothbrush for the Data Nerd

Best Electric Toothbrush for the Data Nerd

The latest model from Oral-B, the Genius 8000, features a number of high-tech aids delivered to your smartphone thanks to Bluetooth technology. Position Detection Technology uses motion sensors in the brush as well as video recognition in your smartphone's camera to track areas being brushed. Pretty wild!

Not only does it look like something out of Star Trek, the Oral-B app connects your smartphone to your futuristic brush to show you info about your brushing (if that's your thing). Pressure Sensor Technology lets you know if you're applying too much pressure, which can damage your gums.

"It uses motion sensors in the brush as well as video recognition in your smartphone's camera to track areas being brushed."

This is a helpful feature, because gum damage due to overzealous flossing or brushing can be a real issue for your mouth. The app also has a timer. And just for fun: you can customize the color of the SmartRing lighting system by choosing from 12 different colors.

The round oscillating brush head is excellent at breaking up plaque and massaging gums, and the brush features a whopping 6 cleaning modes: daily clean, gum care, sensitive, whitening, tongue cleaning, and pro-clean mode.

It uses a Lithium Ion battery and includes a smart travel case that can also charge your smartphone! This brush can seriously do it all. You can go up to 12 days between charges. The set includes the handle, charger, 3 brush heads, refill stand, travel case, and smartphone holder. The Genius 8000 is not cheap, but this toothbrush has all the bells and whistles to justify the price.

The Smart and Stylish Electric Toothbrush

This toothbrush has the coolest charger — a glass tumbler! After you rinse, set your brush in the glass, which fits over the charging base. The DiamondClean 9300 also comes in trendy pink (plus silver, white, and black), so if you're looking for aesthetically-pleasing toothbrush, check it out.

But this model doesn't just look good on your sink, it has all the tech you could possibly want, like Bluetooth technology to connect to your smartphone via Sonicare's app. Personalized coaching via app? Yup, that's included. Also included are three different brush heads, each with a different function: plaque control, gum care, and whitening. Plus a carrying case, charger cable, and a downloadable app that lets you track brushing pressure, find missed spots, and more.

Guide.com

Four brushing modes — Clean, White+, Deep Clean+ and Gum Health — each have three intensity settings. It might even have too many options! The smart sensors will even let you know when to replace the brush head. Whether you use all the tech or not, this brush is super effective. It got our teeth fresh-from-the-dentist clean. Very impressive!

In addition to the 9300, a Series 9500 ($269.99) is available, as well as the brand new series 9700 (which has even more features and retails for $329.99). The DiamondClean Smart comes with a 2-year warranty. If you're looking for an electric toothbrush that has it all, try this one.

Honorable Mention: Best Oral Care Online Subscription

Honorable Mention: Best Oral Care Online Subscription

Do you like taking bathroom selfies? This brush is for you! Quip is super sleek and easy on the eyes; it even comes in trendy copper. Its small stature and lack of clunky charger also makes it convenient to store — and the wall mount doubles as a travel case.

Stick the holder in the shower, or inside a medicine cabinet. The color choices are great; it's nice to be able to customize and choose whether you want a blue or green plastic handle ($25), or if you want to upgrade to a silver, slate, copper, or gold metal handle ($40).

The company also offers a non-electric, plastic option for only $10. Quip doesn't use an oscillating round head like most electric toothbrushes, so your teeth may not feel as clean as they would if you used a traditional, pricey electric toothbrush.

But the price is right on this set, and it's a step up from a manual brush. When we tried it it felt like a standard brush on steroids — the head vibrates back and forth to aid brushing.

The biggest upside to Quip is that it includes a digital service that automates delivery of fresh brush heads and other supplies like toothpaste. Inside your package you'll also find simple dental guides for optimum tooth care.

The Quip brush is battery-powered and features a 2 minute timer and vibrations to help optimize your brushing. The starter electric set includes the brush, travel cover/wall mount, a large toothpaste, and a small tube of toothpaste perfect for travel.

Guide.com

A subscription refill plan is available and includes a fresh AAA battery, brush head, and large and small toothpastes shipped to you every three months. No fuss, no hassle; just set it and forget it and you won't need to worry about picking up new brushes or toothpaste. Quip is convenient, attractive, and it features a low price point.
