Hamilton Beach 4 Quart Stay or Go Slow Cooker Review

Available at a lower price point and with a smaller footprint than the other cookers on this list, the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 4-Quart Slow Cooker is a good cooker for people who are on a tight budget, who have limited counter space, or both.

Though it’s less advanced than some of the other slow cookers on this list, we have to mention that it’s one of the highest rated. Recommended by America’s Test Kitchen, its merits were tested with rib, steak, and chicken dishes. Online reviews tend to spotlight the cooker’s even cooking and lack of hotspots. Be forewarned, though, even on the low setting, this one tends to run a little hot. Be wary of overcooking, especially if you’re trying out a new recipe.

The main drawback of this slow cooker is that it can’t be preprogrammed—you have to use the manual controls. It has four settings, Low, Medium, High, and Keep Warm.

The Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 4-Quart Slow Cooker has also a travel-ready design—with locking lid—meaning you can toss (not literally! Be gentle!) whatever you’re cooking in the trunk of your car and take whatever you whipped up wherever it needs to go. It’s smaller size helps here too—a full larger cooker can be prohibitively heavy!

While this cooker has its merits, if you can afford it, we strongly recommend that your go with one of the recommended programmable cookers on our list. The benefits greatly outweigh the extra costs and the extra space it needs on your countertop.
