Best Blind Bags: Mystery Bags That Make Great Holiday Surprises

If you have a child, or you're around children, chances are good that you know about blind bags. They're surprise toys, and when you open the bag (or other container) your toy is revealed. This element of surprise is what makes blind bags and surprise toys so much fun — and so popular. (That, and the fact that they're generally inexpensive.)

There are blind bags or surprise toys to match any kid's interests, from little fashion dolls to LEGOs to Disney characters to slime. Take a look at our list of the latest before you stock up on holiday loot!

We found the hottest blind bags of the season, and they make perfect stocking stuffers and small holiday gifts. So shop away, before favorites sell out!

01

Disney Doorables

Disney Doorables

These itty bitty Disney characters are actually really adorable, thanks in part to their glittery, glass eyes. Open the cardboard "door" and see who you got! There are 78 collectible figurines. The Multi Peek set reveals 5, 6, or 7 characters. Alice, Lumiere, Boo… the gang's all here! Not for kids under 3; small parts are a choking hazard.

02

Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts LEGO Minifigures

Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts LEGO Minifigures

The ever-popular LEGO Minifigures are available in various themes, from Unikitty to the sold-out Series 18 party. But we just love this new Wizarding World series, which includes characters from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts such as Dobby, Hermione Granger, Newt Scamander, and others. Each bag contains a Minifigure, plus at least 1 accessory, base plate, and leaflet. There are 22 Limited Edition Minifigures to collect. Not for children under 3 due to small parts.

03

Num Noms Snackables Snow Cones

Num Noms Snackables Snow Cones

Just add water to this surprise toy, then mix the "snow" and dig around for 7 cute Num Noms "snacks." A shovel and a menu are also included. These tiny sweets may look delicious, but don't eat them! Best for ages 5+.

04

Playmobil Figure Series 13

Playmobil Figure Series 13

Choose from female or male Playmobil characters and then open up your blind bag. Which figure will you get? A fairy? A veterinarian? A pirate? The mystery is the fun! Best for ages 5 and up due to small parts; your figure comes ready to assemble.

05
Hatchibabies, the Newest Hatchimals

What's the spin on this year's new Hatchimals toy? It's been revealed: it's a baby! Now your cute creature never has to grow up. Kids who loved previous incarnations of the toy, Mystery and twin versions, are sure to put Hatchibabies on their holiday wish list.

06

07

L.O.L. Surprise! Eye Spy Series

L.O.L. Surprise! Eye Spy Series

Unlock the capsule and see which mystery L.O.L. doll is inside. Clues and a decoder help crack the code. Peel off the doll's rubber cover (which comes apart to become accessories) and see which one you got! Also included: an outfit, bottle, and more. Due to small parts, this toy isn't suitable for kids under 3 years old.

08
Cutetitos: Unwrap a Furry Surprise

The latest surprise toy is hilariously weird. Open up your Cutetitos blind bag and you'll find what looks like a hefty burrito. Nestled inside the realistic tortilla blanket is a little 7.5" stuffed animal.

Cutetitos are really soft and cuddly, though their sleepy faces are a little disturbing -- are they about to be eaten?! Are the Cutetitos scared? But they're just supposed to be cozy and sleeping in their burrito bunting. (Think of the social media trends of wrapping pets up in blankets to look like burritos, or photoshopping animal faces onto delicious foods.) Either way, the blind bag and burrito wrap are really fun to open, so we predict that this new toy from Basic Fun will be a hit with kiddos who love surprise toys. The collectibles craze shows no sign of slowing!
