Amazon Tap Wireless Speaker Review
If you’ve used Alexa, Amazon’s personal digital assistant, you know how useful she can be—and realize what a great feature her addition is on the Wi-Fi-enabled Amazon Tap ($130) wireless speaker.
The Alexa Voice Service allows you to request the speaker play a specific song or artist when you ask for it in plain voice (via Spotify, Amazon Music, and other services). You can also request weather information, sports scores, news headlines—pretty much everything you can do via Siri or Google Now. It even connects to smartphone apps so you can order a Domino’s pizza or hail an Uber by voice too. Very cool stuff.
Sound quality on the Tap, meanwhile, is terrific. Its dual 1.5-inch drivers provide crisp 360-degree Dolby audio with plenty of volume. The only real drawback is its lack of waterproofing, so this is not the best choice for blasting tunes poolside.
Otherwise, we think the Amazon Tap is an excellent value, and your best Alexa-enabled choice.
