Dancing with the Stars: Recaps

Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, Nov, 25, 2008

p>This is it, folks! We've finally arrived at the live, two-hour season finale of Dancing with the Stars. Even though your votes have all already been tabulated, there are still 30 judges' points up for grabs. From what I understand, each couple will be performing one more of their favorite routines. Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus will also perform. Plus: We'll have comedy segments from Cloris Leachman and Jeffrey Ross. I am certainly ready for this to be over — all the excitement, that is, so let's get to it. Did your favorite win? Read more to find out... read more

Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Monday, Nov. 24, 2008

Well, folks, I made it to the Dancing with the Stars finals with my sanity relatively intact. Thanks to all of you for making my introduction to ballroom relatively painless, and, dare I say, relatively fun. Monday's performance show will include recaps of the contestants' favorite dances, something The Berge calls a "samba smackdown" (God help me) and the much-vaunted freestyle dance, which I hope includes Mission: Impossible-style wirework and something scary like Mummenschanz's clay faces. Lance, Brooke and Warren each have their strong points, to be sure, but in my estimation, Brooke seems to have the edge at the moment if for no other reason that she has been overwhelmingly consistent throughout the season. (We won't mention last week's unpleasantness.) Is it bad, therefore, that I am secretly (OK, not so secretly) hoping for an upset of gigantic proportions? Barring that, just seeing Cloris Leachman again will probably sustain me until the next season starts in March 2009. Are you ready? Read on to see who shone in Monday's proceedings.

Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008

Who will make it to the finals, and whose Dancing with the Stars dream will be cut just short? Monday's "surprising turn of events" have made Tuesday's results perhaps the least predictable of the whole season. While Brooke and Derek stumbled in their jive, they made up enough ground in their salsa to keep them from occupying the basement spot. This week that dishonor went to Cody and Julianne, in their first week reunited after her unexpected surgery. Warren and Kym continued to charm the crowd and the judges, despite obvious technical shortcomings, and Lance and Lacey delivered two solid dances, one with Lance wearing only one shoe. Who made the cut? Read on to find out...

Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Monday, Nov. 17, 2008

Hey folks, it's the Dancing with the Stars semifinals! I'm just as excited as all of you are to see who makes the lucky trio of couples, so let's get straight to it. I have to admit that so far things have gone pretty much as I expected. No surprises whatsoever. I'm hoping that this week we can shake things up a bit, inject a little drama in the proceedings. I'm not suggesting anything Tonya Harding-inspired, but here's hoping for something shocking to happen so we can use that word on the homepage again! Read on to find out who made the final three...

Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008

Tuesday on Dancing with the Stars, the judges chose Warren and Kym's tango to see again, which allows me another opportunity to share a Peter Gunn-related memory. I had a roommate in college who was dating a girl for whom the Peter Gunn theme was, how shall we say, mood music. Funny, right? But you want to know who made the semifinals, and who is out, right? Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Monday, Nov. 10, 2008

Covering Dancing with the Stars this season has been a series of firsts for me. First injury! First elimination! First team dance! Tonight: two dances for each contestant! Including a 15-second solo! I'm hoping that Cody makes it through this week, if only because I hear that Julianne is ready to come back next week, and it would be a shame to see him get eliminated before I get to see that. Who had enough stamina for two dances? And who won't be bothered with them next week? Read on to find out...

Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008

So tonight our Dancing with the Stars contestants have been judged on not one, but two dances, since the producers introduced the concept of the team dance this week. I don't know about you, but I thought, as a television experiment, it didn't knock my socks off. As Carrie Ann pointed out in her own special way, a team dance is all about unison, and I think that was a tall order for both teams. I suppose it was fun to see them dancing together, but both of the resulting routines left me a little cold, as high-energy as they both were. Also, I'm taking money on Lionel Richie singing "Hello"; it seems ballroom-y to me.

Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Monday, Nov. 3, 2008

"He's bringing cranky back," Berge cracks, paraphrasing Justin Timberlake, Yes, Len Goodman is back in the hizzy (wearing a snazzy fedora to boot) to hold court over this week's Dancing with the Stars proceedings. It would seem that Susan Lucci is in the hot seat after a few weeks of subpar performances, but will Lance, Brooke and Warren be able to hold on to their momentum in the face of stricter judging and continuing fatigue? How will Cody adjust to his new partner, Edyta, while Julianne is still on the mend? We're down to the final six, which means, in order to fill all 90 minutes allotted to the Monday show, we also have team dances, in which two groups of three couples will compete, one taking on the cha cha cha; the other, the paso doble. How did they all do? Read on to find out...

Was Tuesday's Dancing with the Stars results show Drunk Nana's last stand? Or did she sneak by on her overwhelmingly charming pluck and general 82-year-old-ness? Will Cody survive eliminations without the heavenly Julianne at his side? Will Michael Flatley really be dancing in fire? Read on to see how it all went down -- and what Dancing pro Louis van Amstel thought too...

So how do group dances work? I, for one, can't wait to see how our fearless Dancing with the Stars contestants (read: Cloris) take on hip-hop. Until I post my full recap later, please use this space to comment on Monday's sure-to-be-off-the-hook proceedings.
